New 2018 Chevrolet Sonic Being Tested in Detroit
It looks like Chevrolet is planning a 2018 Sonic to compete against Ford’s Fiesta and Honda’s Fit. The news comes after Autoblog obtained spy pictures of the Sonic being test-driven in and around the Detroit area.
In addition to releasing the test images, Autoblog also speculated on what new features will be included in Sonic’s revamp. It seems it will share an update Gamma platform with the all-electric Chevy Bolt. It also looks like the new Sonic will include a naturally aspirated four-cylinder or small turbocharged engine, but many experts suggest a three-cylinder engine is also a possibility.
Details on when the 2018 Sonic will hit production and where it will be produced are still anyone’s guess. Recent lay-offs at GM’s production facility in Orion Township, Michigan led to the plant being redesigned to produce the Chevy Bolt, which indicates that location as a likely location.
We’ll make sure to update our information on the new 2018 Chevrolet Bolt as it becomes available.
