The Chevrolet Camaro has come a long way the past 50 years. On September 29, 1966, the Camaro was introduced. Although initially named "Panther", the name did change to Camaro to align with the other two models - Chevelle and Corvette.
Chevrolet has already released the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro Anniversary Edition which features: Gray Metallic Exterior, 20-inch 50-Year Anniversary Wheels, Unique Grille, and a Black Leather Interior with Orange Stitching.
"Over the past half-century, the Camaro has fostered enthusiasm, camaraderie and memories like few other vehicles," said Steve Majoros, marketing director of Chevrolet Cars and Crossovers, in a statement. "It's a passion Chevrolet takes seriously and the activities this summer are a way of giving back to those who have made the Camaro an icon."
The festivities for the 50th Anniversary have already started! The Celebration kicked off in August and continued throughout the entire month. General Motors hosted several events leading up to the Dream Cruise. This included events at the Plant where the current Chevrolet Camaro is being built, a car display, a car show, Camaros and Coffee, a Camaro Heritage Display and so much more.
